The Media Console has a continuous wide shelf along the top that spans the complete width of two shelving units, while the top shelf on a Short Shelving Unit has a raised edge. When two Short Shelving Units are assembled together, these raised edges make it difficult for a TV to rest on top while ensuring its stability (which means that we do not recommend placing your TV on top of two Short Shelving Units!)
